Content Management Systems ColdFusion vs Php
I've been playing with the php based, open source Mambo CMS and I've been pleased with the degree of user based support available for it. It's a breeze to setup and it's skinnable architecture is especially easy for setting up complete web sites in moments. While designer and html purists might scoff at the idea of turn key web development, it's an easy way for someone to get a decent, highly dynamic website with little to no effort which can then be "designed" at a later date to match the specfic needs of the web site owner. There's a plethora of templates for it, an event system, and a fully integrated rss feed system. Slap in the phpBB forum system with a skin that matches Mambo and you've got a decent little web site.
I'm also very familiar with ColdFusion based content management systems including the complete and very powerful, but ill-fated Allaire Spectra and the very nice open source FarCry CMS. They key to deciding on which system to use will depend on the types of integration needed. Since I lean towards CF development, those apps will most likely be CF based, which will require FarCry, but for those sites that are mostly content in nature rather than services of some sort, Mambo is definitely a good choice.
